Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)

We are fortunate to have with us Hon. Herbert S. Glickman. (ret.)  Judge Glickman sat on the family bench in Essex County for more than two decades.  His experience in the area is far and wide, as is his respect amongst the family Bar, both in New Jersey and throughout the country.  His primary focus is to provide both mediation and arbitration services. 

We stress using alternative dispute resolution (ADR) techniques, such as arbitration and mediation, to resolve divorce disputes. Negotiated settlements allow people to resolve complex issues by agreement. Divorce disputes worked out through mutual agreement often result in fewer post judgment applications to the court. When children are involved parents are often in a better position to handle issues associated with raising their children rather than an order from a superior court judge. In addition, alternative dispute resolution is often less expensive and less emotionally charged than traditional divorce litigation.

Interstate and International Child Custody and Child Support Matters

Our attorneys have handled a number of interstate and international child custody and child support cases. We have helped numerous clients gain court permission to relocate with their child to another state, and we have prevented parents from relocating a child to another state when it was not in the child’s best interest.

International child custody and child support issues are extremely complex. Our attorneys have handled a number of cases related to the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. However, the Hague Convention only applies to countries in which it has been ratified in the state. Child custody and child support issues are governed by the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Act, Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction, Enforcement Act and Uniform Interstate Family Support Act. Our firm and our attorneys understand are prepared to handle cases related to international child custody and child support matters.
